The Azimut Magellano Collection

The Azimut Magellano collection debuted at the 49th Genoa Boat Show in 2009. The model exhibited was a Magellano 74 – a striking boat with a copper-colored hull and large, tinted windows. The yacht was designed with long-range, eco-friendly performance in mind and heralded a departure from Azimut's sleeker, more stylish boats.

Maximum comfort was also a key feature, as was stability at slow speeds and the ability to cruise safely at higher speeds when required. Azimut's CEO summed up the new Magellano range, "we have discerned a trend away from show-off boats and an increase in the desirability of slower styles of yachts."

To prove her seafaring credentials, the Magellano 74 set out on a grueling 2000-mile odyssey around the Mediterranean and across to North Africa. The journey was known as "My Voyage" and proved that Azimut's latest yacht was more than capable of living up to its promise.

The Magellano 50

The Magellano 50 came next. She premiered at the Genoa Boat Show in October 2010 and was an instant success. The yacht offered a dual mode hull with a section in the middle that acted like a shock absorber. The interiors exuded contemporary Italian style: walnut paneling and leather furnishings abounded; the attention to detail was exemplary. At a speed of 8 knots, the Magellano 50 could travel more than 1,000 nautical miles before refueling. Optional extras included a pair of electric engines to supplement the dual 425 hp diesels.

The yacht was approved to sail in any sea condition and its eco-friendly credentials were stamped everywhere: it held the Rina Green Plus certification (the first yacht under 50 feet to obtain it); wood used for the trim and paneling came from sustainable sources; the infusion lamination of the hull was done at Azimut premises that are ISO 14001-certified for environmental management. The Magellano 50 garnered industry-wide acclaim and won the prestigious Best Innovative Design award at the 2011 World Yacht Trophies in Cannes.

The Magellano 50 is the result of years of experience and the commitment to propose a totally innovative project in which we explore the option of electric propulsion and a whole range of new solutions.

The Magellano 43

The Azimut Magellano 43 was next to join the fleet. The flybridge version debuted first; the sedan (43 HT) premiered at the Genoa Boat Show in 2012. Despite its smaller size, the Magellano 43 retains a broad beam for much of its length, a design feature that allows for three generously-appointed cabins, two heads and a level of luxury similar to that found on larger models. The yacht can cruise comfortably for more than 500 miles at 9 knots and reach a maximum speed of 20 knots.

The interior design is impressive: sofas are finished with high-quality leather; cabinetry is both tasteful and practical; wall treatments are foam-backed and do an admirable job of suppressing ambient noise. Stainless steel handrails are everywhere and attention to detail is evident throughout. A wide range of colors and textures are available.

The Magellano 53

Pinnacle Marine capped a successful 2018 with the sale not only of an Azimut Flybridge 66, but also a Magellano 53. The lucky buyer hails from New Zealand and will take delivery of the yacht in the Summer of 2019. After that he'll spend time cruising the Mediterranean, getting used to his new yacht and enjoying the sights and fantastic cuisine. As Winter approaches, we'll arrange for the yacht to be brought to New Zealand.

Launched in September 2013, the Magellano 53 superseded the erstwhile 50 and heralded a new generation of Magellano yachts. While many of the improvements stemmed from listening to user feedback, Azimut's design team added changes of their own. As well as increasing the size of the cockpit, they re-designed the owner's suite and created a bigger bathroom with teak floor and designer sink. Federico Lantero, Magellano's brand manager, summed up the changes, "Besides the captain's cabin, we built much more storage across the boat, in both the exterior and interior. The layouts are more strategic now."

The Magellano 76

As of Spring 2019, the largest member of the family is the Magellano 76, the pride of the fleet and a breathtaking example of Italian craftsmanship. The Magellano 76 builds on its predecessor (the 74) in several important ways. The flying bridge has been extended aft, for example, providing more space for casual lounging. Noise and vibration suppression is vastly improved. New safety features have been introduced, and easier access to all areas of the engine room ensures prompt, stress-free maintenance. At a relaxed cruising speed of 9 knots, the yacht's range is more than 1,600 nautical miles.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. If that's true, a video is worth ten thousand or more. We invite you to watch the video below and see what an absolutely stunning yacht the Magellano 76 is.
