If purchasing a new boat is beyond your budget, we often have many high quality, late-model, second-hand boats available. We generally focus on the brands we represent (Azimut, Benetti andElan), but we do consider other brands if the boats meet our strict criteria. On most occasions, the used boats we sell in New Zealand have been sold by us new to their existing owner or are trade-in vessels whose history we can verify. Finding the Right Boat

Buying a second hand or "pre-loved" boat can be a daunting experience, especially if you don't know precisely what you want. If you are looking at the second-hand market, you'll often be overwhelmed by the choice available and forced to compromise to buy one boat over another.

It's a matter of ensuring that the boat you are buying is right for both you and your family, and the type of boating you intend to do. We will always discuss your needs and wants, and offer unbiased advice as to what type of boat is best for you.

If you choose to buy a second-hand boat through a reputable broker like Pinnacle Marine European Ltd, we will generally also supply you with a complete history of the vessel (whenever available). This means you receive up-to-date servicing and maintenance records which indicate works or issues that have been picked up in the past. The history will also show you how well maintained the boat has been, giving you peace of mind.

For you – the buyer – it is important to know that previous owners have carried out scheduled maintenance and regularly serviced their vessel. Ideally, the boat will have been regularly serviced by a certified marine technician or service centre, and have documentation to prove this.

As the broker carrying out the transaction on your behalf, Pinnacle Marine European will always obtain a full inventory of what's included with the boat when you buy it – leaving no unexpected surprises at the time of handover. Items like fishing and safety gear, for example, are often not included in the purchase. And safety gear will generally have an expiry date or "service" by date. In such cases, we assure these items are either up to date, replaced, or an allowance has been considered for replacement. In addition to our services, we always encourage clients to obtain an independent surveyor's report for extra peace of mind.
